Post-E3: Top Ten Games to Look Forward To
So E3 is wrapping up on Friday, and it's fair to say that this year was pretty good. We had a lot of reveals and release announcements, but what games really stand out? That's what I'm here to answer. I'm going to share my list of the top ten games that I'm looking forward to after E3, starting with some honorable mentions. Each will also have a link to a video.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
The Elder Scrolls VI:
I can't believe it, but Bethesda actually revealed that they are in fact working on the sequel one of the best games of all time, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. While any other fan of the franchise would put this on the list, we only got an announcement of development, with a short teaser, and no details whatsoever. While I am beyond excited that it is in fact coming, the lack of details or release window is why it won't be on the list.

Starfield:
Speaking of Bethesda, we finally got the announcement that they are working on their first new IP in 25 years, Starfield. Another first-person RPG, similar to Fallout and Elder Scrolls, Starfield will focus on thrusting players into the stars, giving us what could potentially be a giant rival for Mass Effect. However, as with Elder Scrolls, we only got a title and development announcement, and so I have to leave it off of the list.

Dying Light 2:
I didn't necessarily enjoy the first Dying Light game, but with Chris Avellone, writer of games like Fallout: New Vegas and 2017's Prey, working on the game, I know that it'll have the story to make me want to play. With an all new choice system that impacts a large chunk of the game, and improvements on the first game's parkour systems, I'm sure it'll be a blast to play through. However, it didn't make the cut, but still keep your eye on it!

Tom Clancy's The Division 2
The upcoming sequel to The Division sure looks like it will improve on the original. While I enjoyed the first game quite a bit, I felt that there was no end game content to keep my interest. Even though the game added much needed content later, I had already moved on to different games, and my interest was gone. That's my worry for the sequel, and I hope that they can address the issues presented by the first game.

Beyond Good and Evil 2
The upcoming sequel to Beyond Good and Evil certainly looks like it'll be a breath of fresh air for video games. With it's own unique style, and a newly announced partnership with HitRecord to create fan-made content for the game, it's going to be something special. However, we still have no release date or window whatsoever, but regardless we should keep an eye on this one.

Now on to the Top 10!
#10: SKULL & BONES
Release Date: TBA 2019
When this game debuted at E3 last year, I was instantly hooked. A pirate game utilizing the ship gameplay from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag? I'm in. This appears to be a shared-world style game in the vein of Destiny and The Division in some areas, with an awesome looking multiplayer side as well. While this can be a little disappointing to some, I think this will end up being a great decision for Ubisoft. Hopefully it'll provide a decent customization system and deeper combat than AC 4, and have a dedicated player base to keep the game alive after launch. However, there's still no word on a single-player story, a feature that gamers still want. You heard me EA. Anyway, check out the newest gameplay from E3 below, and make the decision for yourself you scurvy dog!

#9: SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE
Release Date: TBA 2019
Yes, another From Software game is coming in 2019, and I am excited. From the reveal trailer, it looks like we'll be getting a game similar to Bloodborne and Dark Souls, but with new movement mechanics and a different setting. I've always been a fan of the Souls series, and Bloodborne is one of the best games of this generation, so I can't wait to see how Sekiro ends up being. The only drawback to this game so far is that it is being published, or helped in some way, by Activision. This perplexes me greatly, since From Software has always published through Bandai Namco or PlayStation. This could mean lootboxes? DLC passes? BATTLE ROYALE??? All joking aside, this game looks like a worthy successor to the Souls series, and I am ready.

#8: FORZA HORIZON 4
Release Date: October 2, 2018
I was always a Forza fan, but when Forza Horizon came out, I fell in love. It combined the realism of Forza with the arcade-quality of games like Need for Speed. In addition, the next two games only increased in quality, adding dynamic weather and strengthening the multiplayer. As for location, the newest one is set in the United Kingdom, with locations like Scotland and the English countryside shown off. The biggest change this time is the addition of seasons. All four seasons will have dramatic effects on the game, from increased rain in the spring to frozen lakes in the winter. As I've said before with previous Horizon games, this feels like the next step forward in a great franchise.

#7: THE LAST OF US PART 2
Release Date: TBA
The Last of Us is one of the best games of all time. It's extremely well written, had characters you card about from the first second you saw them, boasted incredible performances from Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker and had the usual polish expected from developer Naughty Dog. From the gameplay trailer we saw at E3, the sequel looks like a total improvement over the first. Improved fighting mechanics, fluid movement and a cinematic flair to the gameplay as a whole certainly elevates the game above the first. Check out the newest gameplay below.

#6: DEATH STRANDING
Release Date: TBA
Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear Solid, is a weird guy. Now that the obvious is out of the way, Death Stranding looks fantastic. In my opinion, I feel that we don't get enough cinematic games, and this game looks like it will be an outstanding experience. At E3 we finally saw gameplay....sort of. It was a lot of walking and climbing, but no combat. However, we did get the reveal that Lea Seydoux is in the game, so that's cool! Anyway, here's the gameplay reveal!

#5: BATTLEFIELD V
Release Date: October 19, 2018
Battlefield is the franchise I've loved for the longest time, since Battlefield 1942 back on PC. The latest entry in the franchise is taking us back to World War 2, and adding new features along the way. Players can finally fully customize their soldier, including facepaint, gender and clothing. In addition, new ways to play including fortification building, towable gun emplacements and new modes. With the announcement of all DLC being free and a battle royale mode coming after launch, this looks like it'll be a great addition to the franchise.

#4: ANTHEM
Release Date: February 22, 2019
At first, I was really skeptical of Bioware's shared world action RPG, Anthem. But, after the panel and gameplay at E3, I'm pretty close to sold. The game looks beautiful, the gameplay looks slick and the world and lore seem interesting and fresh. Where once I was worried about a potential clone of Destiny I now see a game that I could potentially sink hours upon hours into. Below is the newest trailer from E3.

#3: CYBERPUNK 2077
Release Date: TBA
We have been waiting for news about Cyberpunk 2077 since the last trailer in 2014, and the new trailer did not disappoint. CD Projekt Red's next game after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt looks to be their most ambitious yet. We found out from E3 that it will in fact be a first-person RPG similar to Fallout. While we didn't get a lot of information, we did get a new trailer that gives us a better look into the new expansive world that CD Projekt Red is creating for us.

#2 ASSASSIN'S CREED: ODYSSEY
Release Date: October 5, 2018
I have never looked at an Assassin's Creed game and said, "I'd buy that!" Odyssey looks fantastic, and there were many times during the game's presentation that I could not believe I was watching a new Assassin's Creed game. This time, the game takes place in Ancient Greece during the war between Athens and Sparta. From the trailer, it appears that we play a descendant of Leonidas, the great Spartan king, and trudge across a beautiful Greek world. This game looks more like an Ancient Greek RPG than an Assassin's Creed game, and I can't wait to own it.

#1: FALLOUT: 76
Release Date: November 14, 2018
Fallout: 76 is going to be a little polarizing. It's the first game in the franchise to include the option to play multiplayer, and I can't wait. Fallout is one of my favorite game franchises of all time, and I'm so excited that I'll be able to play alongside my friends online, scouring the Wasteland for supplies and loot, killing horrifying new monsters and building our own settlement. Set in West Virginia, we are the first vault dwellers to emerge into the world after the bombs fell, and we'll get to see a Wasteland unlike any before. New weapons, creatures and location will definitely drive me to explore, as well as the fact that the map will be four times the size as Fallout 4. Below is the E3 trailer from the conferences.
